There are many healing Scriptures in God’s Word that we can pray and declare over ourselves. Just because we live in a fallen world and our bodies are “constantly wasting away” (2 Corinthians 4:16) does not mean that we cannot pray and declare healing over ourselves from sickness, disease, and chronic pain.
Prayer is a spiritual balm that inwardly renews and heals our souls. When we call out to the Lord in prayer for physical, emotional, and physical healing, we can experience the powerful presence of God in our lives.
Here are 40 healing scriptures that we can use to pray for healing for ourselves and for our loved ones.

If we know that our bodies will eventually end up in the grave, and that we will one day shed the perishable cloak of our current bodies and be clothed in our imperishable bodies when we see Jesus face-to-face, why pray for healing now on Earth?
Because we serve a great God.
Jesus said that he came so that we may have an abundant life (John 10:10). The gospels record dozens of miracles performed by Jesus, and the gospel of John states that there were many other miracles Jesus performed that were not recorded in Scripture (John 20:30).
When Jesus performed a miracle of healing, it was to give glory to God the Father, and to demonstrate his deity as the son of God. God cares not only about our spiritual, emotional, and mental health, what are physical health as well. He knows how many hairs are on his head (Luke 12:7). He leaves the 99 sheep to go after the lost one (Matthew 18:12).
That is how much he cares for you and me!
If he did not care about our physical health, then James would not have been inspired by the Holy Spirit to write this in James 5:14-16:
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
The word declare simply means to say something. A declaration is usually spoken aloud. It means to proclaim, announce, state, or communicate (source). So when we pray and declare God’s Word over our lives, we are proclaiming God’s truth. We need to continually hear God’s truth when the situations in our lives tempt us to doubt the goodness and truth of God. So declare God’s truth today by reading His Word aloud, and allow the truth of those words to speak life and healing to your soul.
I hope you are encouraged by the prayer in this video. God’s Word not only heals our body, but soothes are soul from the hurt and pain of this world.
Hold fast to God’s promises and trust and believe that God cares for you!
When I was in the eighth grade, my dad was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which resulted in chronic liver disease. Our church family earnestly and faithfully prayed for my dad’s healing. But he passed away a year later. What happened? Did God not heal my dad? What about the countless people who pray for healing every day but are not healed? Did we not have enough faith?
I truly truly believe my dad received the greatest healing when he went home to be with the Lord. His perishable body was made imperishable. He no longer had to suffer in his earthly body, but is now rejoicing in the indescribable beauty and joy of Eternity.
And God still gets the glory.
Jonathan Evans (son to pastor Tony Evans and brother to Priscilla Shirer) spoke powerfully at his mother, the late Lois Evans’ memorial service when she went home to be with the Lord after battling a rare cancer (source).
Their church prayed diligently for Lois’s healing. Jonathan Evans powerfully reflected on the fact that just because God doesn’t always answer our prayers in the way we want, does NOT mean that God did not answer our prayers. He reflected by saying, “Either she was going to be healed or she was going to be healed. Either she was going to live or she was going to live,” he said.
Isn’t that the truth? Either we are going to be healed on this side of glory, or on the other–either way, God gets the glory, and our lives can be a testament to his power, grace, and greater purpose. Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 prayed again and again for God to remove “a thorn in the flesh” from his life. A thorn of affliction that burdened this powerful missionary.
Though we do not know for sure, many theologians think that the thorn in his flesh could have been a physical condition (source).
In the midst of our suffering and waiting on God for our healing, remember that God’s grace is sufficient. He will carry you and sustain you through your situation, and his grace, love, and power can restore your heart, mind, body and soul.
Here are nine scriptures that you can use to pray and declare for healing in your life. Whether you receive your healing on this side of glory or on the other side of Eternity, trust that God loves you, he is for you, and his grace is enough to fill you with a joy-filled, abundant life.
Pray these verses over your life and declare them over your situation, and give God the glory in your life each day!
